In the late 1990’s after 20 years climbing the corporate ladder I was facing my second redundancy. I was being spat out and felt I had nowhere else to go. I had trained and focussed on succeeding in the corporate world and now I was being told I was no longer wanted. And what was worst, I felt I had failed and could not understand how to go about doing it differently. This left me feeling awfully stuck with few if any options. A deep depressing feeling set in that I had no way of shifting. It was a sort of numbness and fog that left me with little or no way of navigating anymore.

I was offered standard support but no one could understand nor help sort out what was going on. The assessment I got was – “you are intelligent enough so we cannot understand what the problem is”. What I found difficult to understand was the harder I tried at work, the worse it got. I was becoming increasing ineffective and inefficient. I was reading and endeavouring to apply all the latest business techniques, but they just made it more complicated.

I was fit, playing team sport and mountain running. The trouble was, I was trying to run away from my issues.

Friends were supportive but also worried that I was being so useless. All I needed to do was pull myself together and get another job. The trouble was, I had no energy or self-belief to pull in another job. I got some consulting work but not enough to support us. The effect on the family was huge and I was fortunate to have a supportive partner and wife.

And so started a long, inefficient climb out of oblivion.

I was being challenged to evaluate everything I lived by. All my beliefs and principles I based my life on were being seriously challenged. I had no idea this was a key part of the process. I found a book by chance called ‘Conversations With God” by Neale Donald Walsch. It took me 9 months to read the first book. I could only read a couple of pages at a time as it was so challenging, turning everything upside down. I distinctly remember the piece from page 44 “If you don’t go within, you go without”. It took me a long to appreciate the significance of this.

And so I embarked a series of disjointed workshops and processes to address the feeling of being stuck, depressed and numb. I tried everything from Reiki, rebirthing, deep tissue massage to weekend courses involving meditation.

I started to go through some major energy shifts that were very scary at about this point. I would have huge surges in energy that sweep through my body and induced a sense of panic, as I had no idea of what was occurring and no one could explain them. The people I was doing the processes with were meant to be the gurus and they had no idea of what was occurring, so this just made it scarier. There was one memorable occasion at breakfast time when the energy built to the point I had to get outside. So I ended up staggering around the back lawn holding my head and clutching the clothesline pole to stay upright. I remember thinking “I hope the neighbours cannot see this or someone will ring for the guys in white coats!” It was pretty alarming for my family. I felt like I was losing my mind and I was. I had get out of my mind and start to get into my feelings.

I had trained for so long about dealing in facts, setting goals and objectives, with no connection to my feelings. I had gotten seriously out of balance.

Some years earlier my father had died of a heart attack aged 51 and I vowed I would do it differently. I had no idea what this clear intention would line up for me. Then my younger brother died in a plane crash and I had to bring him home after trying to identify what was left of him. I distinctly remember presenting board papers to my directors shortly after and struggling to take it seriously. And so my priorities were seriously challenged but I soldiered on as I felt I had no option. We moved to the Middle East for 6 years. I got the chance to get to know people from many different cultures and they shared their values and beliefs. It struck me that there were about 5 common ideas shared by all the religions, but everyone thought theirs was different and the best. Being a marketing person, I took the view that religion was the first branding marketing exercise and it was all about market share. It was about 10 years after this that it all came to a grinding halt.

The problem was this – because I shut down to my feelings, the nudgings I was getting to change were ignored or went unnoticed. And so it took getting seriously stuck and redundancy to get my attention. A bit like a sledge hammer blow because I had ignored the taps on the shoulder. And then the shift required was a big one, as against smaller gradual steps. I realised that I had been given a choice at each critical point.

So I went through a series of major energy reactivations. The physical effect of these were massive. Basically every cell in my body went through a huge energetic shift, releasing long held negative energy and an influx of positive energy. The surges of energy through the legs, spine and head were major and very disconcerting for a start.

About this time I came across the channelled writings from Ronna Herman in the USA. She was bringing through the teachings of Archangel Michael. I had no idea who this was, but what was being talked about explained what I was going through. It was the first time there was an explanation of what was occurring. I have now followed these monthly newsletters since 1999.

What I came to understand is that there is an energy stream that underpins all life and we are a unique individual expression of this stream. If we hold ideas that are unlike this amazing energy stream, then we block it and we feel awful. If we let it flow, we feel wonderful.

Let me share an experience I have not talked about previously. As part of developing my ability to unblock my energy stream and be able to more comfortably hold the increased flow, I was having regular cranial sacral sessions. In this one session a major block appeared and I was asked by the practioner if I wanted to shift it, which I was keen to do. I was then aware of being in a prison cell with only a small window. And then the walls changed to steel bars. I could look out on people quietly going about their business. They were aware of me but I got the clear sense that they had no judgement of me – if I chose to be in prison, so be it. At this point the cranial sacral practioner asked who I wanted to support me in making a shift. So I asked for a team of non-physical beings I was aware of to come and support me (my father and brother being part of this). They were there in an instant. And then the most stunning thing occurred – the prison bars turned to beams of light. It occurred me that none of them were solid and so I could simply walk out, which I did to the cheering of my support team. At that moment I was aware of the most amazing energy flowing in from the far horizon, made up of every colour you could imagine, but mainly pink, yellow, gold and violet colours. It flowed into and out of everyone, connecting everyone and yet I could distinctly see everyone. And then it flow out to the other horizon and was one continuous flowing movement of colour. It was the most stunning sight to behold.

It was some time later when reading some of AA Michael’s messages that I realised I had seen the energy stream he was talking about. It is truly stunning. And so we are all connected to this pure positive creative energy source or stream. And each of us is a unique individual expression. As Neale Donald Walsch put it, we are a

Singular

Outflow, of

Universal

Life-force

We are a S.O.U.L.

This energy stream is increasing in strength as we are in the midst of the most amazing process called the Ascension. This is a promise that has been talked about in most religions and ancient teachings and it brings great opportunities plus responsibilities for all of us. It is also having a huge physical, mental and emotional effect on each of us and this planet called earth.

As this stream is pure positive creative energy, if we are holding energy that is unlike it (negative energy in the form of ideas, beliefs and thoughts), then the negative stuff is going to flushed up for us to deal with. Some people are going to deal with this better than others. Some people are going to have more to deal with than others. Nevertheless, the opportunity to become self-empowered and develop the ability to consciously use this energy to create positive results faster and more easily is available. There will be those that choose not to awaken to this opportunity and that is okay. They will the chance to do this elsewhere.

Many of us are seriously struggling to cope with this change, especially the mental and emotional aspects. Just have a look at the statics regarding ‘mental’ and ‘emotional’ issues, for example anger, depression, chronic fatigue, panic attack. I know what this feels like. I also know that it is a major opportunity for us to awaken to our true potential. This takes the ability to reawaken their ability to feel and allow this energy to flow in their life. It is energy- in-motion or e-motion.

The issue for many of us is that we got shut down early in our lives. For me, I watched a working dog get pitched off a 100 foot cliff for making my father very angry. For a 4 year old this was pretty traumatic and exacerbated by being left to run home from the back of the farm and not talked about. The impacted energy imprint was ‘anger is dangerous’ and to be avoided at all costs as someone will get hurt or worse. This was to have a debilitating effect in my adult life until sorted out.

Until we are able to comfortably manage any emotion we get stuck and remain depressed. One person who gave the greatest example of the ability to transform any emotion was Jesus Christ. He anchored this energy here for all of us so we could develop the same abilities as he gained. This was his gift and allowed the miracles to come through. Whether you believe it or not, we each have the same ability but most of us have not developed this.

Men are being challenged to develop their ability to manage emotion. This is not often welcomed by many nor is it well understood. As yet we have not developed many programmes to assist men to do this. In contrast women have needed to develop the ability to set goals and go after what they want. This is well understood, with plenty of written material and programmes to assist this. And so we need to understand more around this process of re-activating and positively using our emotional guidance system.

One of the best explanations of this process is given by Esther and Jerry Hicks with Abraham in their book called ‘The Astonishing Power Emotions’. It is all about the emotional scale of vibration we hold as thought or beliefs. As I was retraining as a life coach I was putting together diagrams to help me to understand this material. At the same time we were receiving tapes from Abraham’s weekly workshops. I found that Abraham started talking about the same stuff I was drawing diagrams of. I have blended this with AA Michael’s teachings (with the blessing of Ronna).

I believe we will come to understand that many of the mental illnesses are about developing our ability to successfully manage the emotional scale, transforming negative emotion into the positive in manageable steps.

For example, a couple of clients I have worked with disclosed they suffered from bipolar as we progressed through the programme. I came to appreciate they needed to understand how to step through the emotional scale in manageable steps, as against flicking from depression to euphoria and back. They learnt to do this and take control back over their life and then slowly eliminate the need for drugs. It was important to do the emotional or energy work first and then make the physical changes as the body was ready and able to change. The physical changes are always the slowest.

Depression for me was the same. I needed to find the anger I had turned inwards and learn how to allow it to safely flow in my life. Without this ability I avoided anger and hence stayed stuck underneath it. The positive energy of anger is a wonderful thing – it allows you to say ‘Stuff this. I am going to do something about this’ and allow positive solutions to flow on through. Once I had this sorted, nothing was a major problem as I could always find a way through. It might take me a while, but I would get there and the outcome was always much better, so worth waiting for.

We are all being asked to find this ability to consciously use the energy-in-motion (emotion) and focus it in positive ways that are in our greatest individual interest and best for others. We must make it work for ourselves first and then use it for the benefit of all. The quality of this energy demands integrity and positive use for all. Many corporate’s and large organisations are going to need to understand this if they want good outcomes. The old ways of power, control and dominance will not work well from here on. There is a better way.

Of interest is the need for our younger generation to factor in others. They have been brought up to think of themselves to the exclusion of others and this won’t work either. Their learning is based around being integral and inclusive of others.

For us older generations we were brought up to put others first and leave ourselves second. Once again, unless you align with your unique energy stream first, you will be an ineffective creator. This requires each of us to be able to sense how our stream is flowing and then use this positively.

And so, we stand at the cusp of the greatest change this earth has known. We are part of an amazing process called the Ascension. It is time to awaken to our true power and abilities. We are creators and we were meant to remember this. We were meant to become Conscious Co-Creators with this amazingly powerful , intelligent, pure positive energy stream.

Quantum physics has proven its existence. The algorithms have been written. We just need to become conscious of how it feels and operates in our daily lives. It is real, tangible and available to each and every one of us.

May you find your way out of any dark and lonely space you may find yourself stuck in and come back into your personal power, well-being, joy and ease.

I wish you well my fellow travellers.

I have been wondering how many of us are aware of the influence we have on those around us and the earth we live on. It has been an interesting process to become more aware of how my intentions affect everything I do and their wider influence.

I write this prompted by two experiences this last week. The first was listening to Kathryn Ryan interview a couple of people about the significance of IT for New Zealand. And the second was a request – “keen to hear more about NZ and how I can help myself our land and our people in 2012”. Both are linked for me.

The IT people were pushing for IT to become the fourth science to be taught alongside the standard sciences. The CEO of a large New Zealand corporate was lamenting the difficulty of finding people with the skills to develop new IT solutions. The school Principle also on the programme hit it on the head when he said children need to learn how to create. Developing our skills as creators is the key.
And this leads me onto the request for more information on how to help ourselves, our land and our people. Once again, it is about becoming a more conscious creator and more conscious of the awesome power and intelligence we have access to.

As we move into 2012 and beyond we enter into new territory and that is we are creating as we go. There is no ‘blueprint’ from here on and we have reached a level where we have the power to create results quickly. This means we must very conscious of what it is we are creating. This is determined by the intentions we hold. There is a very simple way to check these are sound-

1. Ask for what is in your greatest good AND best for others
2. Ask yourself ‘Why do I want it’?

Both of these must be integral.

The use of this simple process is usually overlooked. We are able to bring through anything we choose. Take for example the question posed to me – “keen to hear more about NZ and how I can help myself our land and our people in 2012”. This is a clear intention and will draw ideas, solutions and opportunities to the person holding that intention. They will feel like an inspiring idea but will be quite and not ‘pushy’. They come from our Inner Being or Soul and are often quickly drowned out by louder negative arguments and doubts from our ego. We just need to learn to follow them through and explore the possibilities they offer. I am still learning to trust this guidance and understand that it will never fail me. It is truely extraordinary.

Many of us use this guidance without truly understanding the science behind it and hence our ability to develop the conscious use of it. It can be applied in a practical way to everything we do, from developing new IT solutions, helping our land, ourselves and those around us.

One day the ability to be self-empowered and be a conscious co-creator will be taught to all.

Go well,

I have often played with the idea of how we are like a lighthouse, beaming our light out but do we stop to consider the significance of this.

Sometime ago I was discussing with a friend the challenges they have as a social worker in south Auckland. They were commenting on how challenging it was to get parents and adults to engage, making a stand that these young people could recognise and rely on. Once again the analogy of people being a lighthouse came to my mind.

So I have put it down on paper to share.

‘Being’ A Lighthouse

Are you prepared to be a light house that provides light so that you and others might see their way more clearly, avoiding the rocks so everyone might journey more safely, comfortably and find the smartest route?

Everyone one of us is connected to an amazing energy that allows us to shine a powerful light if we allow it. We are all connected this amazing source of energy that is unlimited and free. We were born with it. It is unconditional, meaning we do not need to do anything to have it or deserve it.

So the key thing is how much are we allowing it to shine?

Most of us have been taught to dim our light so as not to shine too brightly. If we do shine brightly it might mean that some of those around us might be out-shone. In New Zealand we call this ‘the tall poppy syndrome’. We tend to cut others down to size if they dare to shine a bit too brightly. It is a sad reflection of the lack of self-confidence and sense of self-empowerment many of us have.

Imagine a new child coming into this world well connected and shining brightly. As they come into contact with more adults they start picking up on the beliefs and ideas that have been practiced and repeated by many others. They are seen as ‘truths’ about life and ‘the way things are’. However, they often run contradictory to this energy stream and gradually create a filter through which this energy must pass. As more beliefs are picked up they create new layers and existing ones are reinforced, so the filter becomes denser allowing less and less light to come through.
That is how we shut down our light.

Many of us are unsure we are able to safely and comfortably handle this energy as we do not understand it and so cannot trust it. A famous quote about this, used by others, is from Maryanne Williamson

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves – “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?”
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in every one.
And, as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others.”

So how do we allow our light to shine and dissolve the filter we have created?

The key is this – we created it, therefore we have the ability to ‘uncreate’ it.

It might appear others have caused it to occur, but it comes down to us holding a thought and then practicing that thought. We have complete control over the thoughts we hold. It is the one thing we have freedom to choose. We can choose to hold different thoughts.

By simply holding a clear intent to allow our light to shine and become the lighthouse we originally intended is enough to kick start a whole process of removing the filter. There are many ways to dissolve the filter and these will become known nor obvious to you, but you must be open to following any suggestions or nudging to explore them. You must follow what feels best to you though. Others can suggest or recommend, but you must decide what lines up best for you.

Can you imagine being able to simply hold yourself still and shine your light out to clearly light up the way around you. You benefit the most as you can navigate safely and take the smartest route, while those around get to benefit as well.

And so, you, your family, work colleagues, friends and everyone you touch gets to benefit.

Are you prepared to become the best lighthouse you can be?

I wish you well.

Many people would consider women to be far more in touch with their feelings and intuition than men. However, we men tend to use a guidance system we were all meant to remember how to use for our own greatest good and for the benefit of others – it is called our gut feelings. It intrigues me that the men I have worked with, from shop floor to senior management, all know about this guidance system and use it to some degree but have not given it the credibility it deserves.

It works like this: – When we are in amongst a lot of contrasting experiences, we get to notice those we don’t want or dislike and those we do want or like. Now, whether you are aware of it or not you set those things you do want as goals or intentions and they create a flow of energy. The energy flows towards the things you want and/or are best for you. It is a bit a river or a stream heading towards what you prefer, want and like. The question then becomes, are you heading upstream or downstream? The choice is always yours as you decide where you put your focus.

This stream is made up of pure, positive creative energy. There is no negative or dark stream out there. Just like in a room – there is only a light switch that either lets the energy flow and we have light or cuts it off and there is no light. So when we let this pure positive energy flow by lining up with it and therefore head down stream to wards those things we have asked for, it feels good. When we get out of alignment with it and close it down by heading upstream, it feels awful. So it is a simple system of opening it up or shutting it down – feels good when it is opening up and running or it does not feel good when we close it down.

So how does this relate to gut feelings. The energy stream can be sensed through the 5 physical senses of sight (light vibration), hearing (audio vibration), taste, touch and smell but these only allow you to pick up on about 20% of the energy at best. The remaining 80% plus is sensed through a very clever sensory system. Let me explain it.

We have 2 basic types of nervous systems. The Central Nervous system (CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous system (PNS). The CNS is sheathed in myelin which does not allow energy in nor out, so it is like a super conductor, transferring electrical impulses between all parts of the body almost instantaneously. The PNS, however, is largely unsheathed allowing energy in so we can sense the flow of energy. Coming from the base of the brain is a major nerve called the Vagus nerve and it travel down into the chest and solar plexus area, where it explodes out into millions of nerve endings, largely unsheathed.

So now you have this large area that can pick up on how much energy is flowing. It can indicate whether something is lining up well for you or not. You either feel good or you feel uneasy / not so good. Your gut feeling is your indicator as to whether you heading downstream towards what you have asked for and is best for you with an increasing energy flow (feels good), or heading upstream away from what you asked for into a diminished energy flow (feels awful or not so good).

There are a couple of analogies that might help you to better grasp this idea: –
1. The hot-cold game. This game is often played with children where someone hides something and the children try to find it. The only clue allowed is to say whether they are getting hotter or colder. Gut feelings operate the same way by indicating whether you are moving towards what you want or away from it.
2. A GPS. This works by you setting the destination you want to be at and the satellite triangulates where you are and where want to be, combined with information feed in by computer on all the road and traffic conditions, and then tells you the smartest route to take. You gut feelings operate the same way. There is an intelligence that is part of the energy stream that understands everything and can indicate to you the smartest route to take to get from where you are to where you want to be, no matter what the topic is.

Some people seem to have remained in touch with this guidance system. We call them lucky or having the knack of being in the ‘right place at the right time’. We were all meant to remember this guidance system and consciously use it. Most of us have forgotten or been discouraged from using it. Those that do use often do not speak about it because it hard to logically explain it. We all have the opportunity to develop the use of it for our own greatest good and the benefit of others so as we all win, so to speak.

In the next article I will cover how to develop your ability to use it. In the meantime, just become aware of how it feels for you when the energy is lining up (feels good) and when you are getting out of alignment (feels awful or not so good). Just stop for a second or two and sense what is happening for you, then decide what action you are going to take based on your gut feeling.

Go well and have some fun with this.
